Leaving Maine, we were looking forward to our drive through the beautiful scenery that awaited us…through what seemed to be the untouched land of northern Maine straight up into Canada. Tempted the entire way with warnings of moose crossings, it was hard to do anything but stare into the passing forests looking for a sign of them.

After a few hours (seriously, hours, plus a neck ache) of my constant nagging for the kids to help me look, I gave up & they went back to their school work they were conquering in the car. Not a single moose sighting, but the ride was still so beautiful! We arrived into beautiful, CLEAN Canada & stayed at a campground just 15 minutes from the old, walled City of Quebec.
When we entered the walls of the old city, we were quickly transported to an old European city that we fell in love with. Walking around, looking at the architecture, listening to french conversations as we passed, it was as if we were actually in France.

As we approached Le Chateau Frontenac (The Fairmont Hotel), we were giddy. It felt like we were entering Beauty & the Beast’s Castle at Disney…but it was REAL! Rylie has always had a special bond with the St. Regis in NY thanks to my mom ;)…well, Mom, I hate to tell you, but the St. Regis has found it’s match, or maybe even been replaced. Whoa, it was AWESOME! We didn’t want to leave. Rylie actually pouted as we left to head back to the camper!! We also were freshly inspired on how we will decorate my office when we get back home next year. This place blew our minds!

Wanting to take it all in & not miss a thing this quaint city offered, we spent 2 days walking & walking & walking…& enjoying french canadian fare in between!!
“Best Poutine in town” with artisan milkshakes at La Chic Shack…Poutine, you ask? Well, it’s smashed, crispy potatoes, covered in cheese curd & a sauce. If we hadn’t heard that it was a MUST-EAT while in Quebec, we’d probably have skipped it, but it truly was delicious…& how often do you have the chance to try something like poutine?? Well, maybe when in New Orleans, but we will stick Quebec’s original claim to fame.

Yes, you could call it a short but sweet love affair with the city of Quebec!
